TOMORROW'S GAME
The Dons are 16-13 and have won four of their last five contests and look to make it three in a row when they head out on the road to begin the final week of conference play on Thursday. The Dons are currently 8-8 in the WCC and can finish anywhere from fourth to seventh in the WCC standings. Pacific is 14-15 overall and 9-7 in the WCC in head coach Damon Stoudamire's second season in Stockton. The Dons are led by junior guard
Frankie Ferrari was who named the WCC Player of the Week on Monday for his performance last week against Saint Mary's and LMU. Ferrari is averaging 13.4 points per game in conference play. The Tigers are led by Roberto Gallinat who is averaging 13.8 points per game. The Dons took the first matchup between these two teams on Jan. 25 69-67 at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
Ferrari Named WCC Player of the Week
Junior guard
Frankie Ferrari was named the WCC Player of the Week last week following his performance in the Dons win over Saint Mary's and LMU. Ferrari for the week, Ferrari led USF with 37 points and 13 assists, all while shooting 65.0 percent from the field and 80.0 percent from 3-point range. Ferrari is the first Don to earn WCC Player of the Week since Avery Holmes did it Mar. 3, 2014.
Four Earn WCC All-Academic Honors
The Dons also excel in the classroom. Four members earned WCC All-Academic Honors as announced by the conference on Wednesday.
Chase Foster,
Jordan Ratinho, and
Nate Renfro all earned First Team Honors, with
Matt McCarthy earning Honorable Mention accolades. To earn All-Academic honors, a player must have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher. Foster, an economics major holds a 3.78 GPA, it is the third time he's been on the list. Ratinho and Renfro are both business administration majors and sport GPA's of 3.83 and 3.77 respectively, while McCarthy a kinesiology major has a 3.23 GPA. The quartet are four of 11 players on USF's roster with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. The men's basketball team posted a 3.36 GPA last semester.
THE SERIES
All-time the Dons own a 71-32 advantage in the series that dates back to the 1911 season. The Dons are 4-1 over the Tigers over the last five meetings and are 9-1 against UOP since they joined the WCC. Earlier this year, the Dons defeated the Tigers 69-67 at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center on Jan. 25, 2018.
