University of San Francisco Women's Golf to Participate in Bruin Wave Invitational

SAN FRANCISCO -- The University of San Francisco will return to Southern California on Monday participating in the Bruin Wave Invitational co-hosted by UCLA and Pepperdine at the San Luis Obispo Country Club. The three-round, two-day tournament will be played Monday and Tuesday at the par-72, 6,323-yard course.

The loaded 16-team field consists of hosts No. 1 UCLA, No. 45 Pepperdine as well as No.4 Stanford, No. 10 USC, No. 18 Washington, No. 19 Colorado, No. 43 California, No. 49 San Jose State, Col Poly, CSUN, Fresno State, Hawaii, New Mexico State, Sacramento State, and San Diego State.
The Dons scoring fivesome will be seniors Vanessa Ha, Kimberly Liu and Emily Laskin. As well as underclassmen Samantha Gong and Joan Soewondo. The same group that competed well at the Battle of the Rock two weeks ago.
Ha, the Dons' silent leader, will once again be counted to lead USF. Ha is coming off yet another top-20 finish at the Battle of the Rock. She tied for 14th with a 4-over 220 (75-70-76).
Laskin and Liu finished 32nd and 34th respectively at the Battle of the Rock. Laskin saved her best round for the final 18, going 2-over. She carded five birdies on the day, while moving up three spots on the leaderboard.
Liu moved up seven spots on the final day. She finished tied for 34th with an 11-over 227 (77-76-74). She also saved her best work for last, recording a birdie on the par-4 first tee and picked up 14 pars on the afternoon.
Gong finished tied for 38th. The Dons' sophomore moved up six spots on the final day after posting a 2-over, 74. She recorded three birdies on the afternoon giving her 11 for the tournament. Freshman Soewondo finished tied for 50th and moved up four sports after recording four birdies to finished four over.
