SAN FRANCISCO- The University of San Francisco's baseball team took on the University of Nevada in their final game of a season long home stand, falling to the Wolfpack 6-3 on a cold and wet day at Benedetti Diamond.
Â
The game got off to a delayed start due to rain, and it took the two teams until the third inning to begin the scoring. The Wolfpack started the scoring in the top half of the third inning. After

Â
In the bottom half of the third the Dons got one run back. After loading the bases,
Michael Perri stepped up to the plate, grounding into a double play that allowed the innings lead-off batter,
Jack Winkler, to score on the play. The score at the end of three innings was 2-1, Nevada.
Â
USF would continue its scoring in the fourth inning, which began with a lead-off double by
Riley Helland. After a
Brady Bate walk,
Thomas McCarthy laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Helland and Bate into scoring position.
Matt Campos stepped up to the plate next and smacked a double down the left field line that drove in both runners to give USF a 3-2 lead.
Â
Unfortunately, Nevada answered back in the next half inning with three runs of their own.
Benji Post began the inning hitting the two batters he faced before being replaced by
Grant Young. The first batter Young faced laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance the runners into scoring position. The runner on third would score on the next play, which was a ground out to the second baseman. The Wolfpack would take the lead two batters later through a two-out RBI double by Dillan Shrum, making the score 5-3, Nevada.
Â
The Wolfpack would add an insurance run in the eighth to make it 6-3, which would be the final score of the game.
