MBB | Dons Run in WCC Tournament Ends in Semifinals

LAS VEGAS – The University of San Francisco men's basketball team's bid to reach the WCC Tournament Finals for the first time since 1998 ended when the top-seed Gonzaga Bulldogs had other plans, defeating the Dons 88-60 on Monday evening at the Orleans Arena.

The Dons (18-15) scored first, but the rest of the contest belonged to the Bulldogs (29-4) who led by as much as 33 late in the contest.  The game featured just one tie and one lead change.  Nate Renfro was the only Don in double figures, he finished with 15 points going 6-for-7 from the floor, his lone miss was a rushed 3-point attempt to beat the shot clock.  He also grabbed six rebounds and dished out three assists in an all-around tremendous performance.

Guards Frankie Ferrari and Souley Boum finished with nine points each.  Ferrari was 3-for-10 from the field and 1-for-2 from long range.  Boum finished 3-for-12 from the floor and 1-for-4 from beyond the arc.  He was also 2-for-2 from the free throw line.

Gonzaga was extremely efficient on offense, shooting 53.3 percent from the field and 45.2 percent from 3-point range.  Four players finished in double figures for the Bulldogs who were led by Killian Tillie's game-high 26 points.
