WHATS THE STORY
• The Dons battle the Big West this weekend when they host Cal State Fullerton and UC Davis on Friday and Sunday, respectively. The two games this weekend are the culmination of a season-long three game homestand.

• USF enters Friday's contest with a 6-3-0 overall record. The 6-3-0 start is the second best start for the Dons under head coach Jim Millinder. It is tied for their most wins through the first nine games of a season. Adding to their impressive start, six of the first nine games have come on the road, where USF has gone 4-2-0.

• Last week the Dons had a light week, playing just one home game on Friday. In that contest, USF battled to a tight 1-0 win over visiting Montana. USF scored its only goal 15 seconds before halftime when Izzie Lueken's perfect corner kick was sent to the back of the net on a header by Mia Villegas. The Dons' defense, led by senior keeper Olivia Camera and newcomer Halle Watson, kept the Grizzlies off the board for the fourth shutout of the season.

• Dynamic Duo: USF's senior forwards Miciah Madison and Samantha Jehnings are proving to be a lethal 1-2 combo. The two have scored 11 of the Dons 17 goals. Jehnings has six on the year, with Madison sending five in the back of the net. For their careers, Jehnings has 30 goals and with Madison has scored 14. Jehnings currently ranks 36th in the nation with six goals scored, and Madison is 73rd with five goals.

• Mamma Mia:  Sophomore midfielder Mia Villegas picked the perfect time to notch her first collegiate goal. With 15 seconds remaining prior to halftime on September 20, Villegas sent a header past the keeper on the beautiful corner kick by Izzie Lueken. This is the third time this season that a Don's first career goal was a game winner. Keely Roy notched a game winner against Illinois and Sydney Cooper scored the game winning goal against San Diego State.

• Striking First: For the seventh time this season, the Dons scored first on September 20 thanks to Villegas' header before halftime. USF improves to 6-1 on the year when they score first. Their lone loss came in overtime against Northeastern.

• Clean Opening Half: In the win over Montana last Friday, the Dons shut out their opponents in the first 45 minutes for the eighth time this season. USF is 6-2-0 when holding their opponents scoreless in the first half. The two losses came against No. 5 USC and on the road at Northeastern. Only No. 3 Stanford has managed to score a goal against the Dons in the opening half.

Olivia Camera earned the cleansheet in the win over the Montana last Friday, it is her fourth of the year and ninth in her career.  Her 41 saves ranks first in the WCC and is 65th in the nation.  For her career she now has 219 saves, which is believed to be third all-time in USF history.

• Shooters Shoot: USF ranks 12th in the nation in shot percentage, they've taken 84 shots on the year with 49 on goal for a .583 shots on goal percentage. Miciah Madison is a big reason for the early success: the senior is 12th in the nation in shot accuracy. 13 of her 18 shots have been on goal for a .722 shots on goal percentage.

• Jehnings In Historic Company:  Senior forward Samantha Jehnings recorded her 30th career goal in the loss to Northeastern.  The 30 goals makes her one of three payers in USF history to eclipse the 30 career goal plateau. First all-time is Shanna Haines (1986-89) with 42 career goals. In second is Kellie Bryant (1992-95) who scored 33.  The two players ahead of Jehnings are members of the University of San Francisco Hall of Fame.

• Millinder's Thoughts: "Last week was a hard fought game, we need to play in more of those games because when conference play gets here they are all going to be like that. I was happy that we played hard for 90 minutes, not only our first 11 but the five to seven players that came off the bench."

FRIDAY'S CONTEST
Cal State Fullerton is currently riding a five-match winning streak. Head coach Demian Brown and his squad are 7-2 overall this year, 2-1 on the road. The Titans are receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches rankings. Last week, the Titans won both of their matches without allowing a goal. Senior midfielder Atlanta Primus scored a goal from a corner kick at LMU to give the Titans a 1-0 victory. Junior forward Haley Brown notched an assist in both goals in the 2-0 win over Weber State last Sunday. As a team, CSF has scored 20 goals on the year while giving up just five.  Senior forward Maddie Bennett leads the team with six goals on the year, Primus is second on the squad with five.

SERIES HISTORY
Friday's contest is the sixth time these two teams have squared off with the series knotted up 2-2-1. The series dates back to Sep. 24, 1995 when the Titans defeated the Dons 2-1. At home, USF is 1-0-1 against Cal State Fullerton. The last time these two teams squared off was on Sep. 13, 2009 with the Dons earning a 1-1 tie at Fullerton.

SUNDAY'S CONTEST
UC Davis has a split home/road series this weekend.  They open the week hosting Saint Mary's on Thursday before making the trip to Negoesco Stadium on Sunday.  The Aggies are 5-3 under first year head coach Tracy Hamm.  UC Davis is 3-2 on the road this year and boasts wins over Pacific, Portland State and Nevada.  As a team, UCD has scored 12 goals on the year, averaging 1.50 goals per game.  Leading the team in scoring is the duo of Casey Palmer and Leslie Fregoso who both have three goals apiece on the year.

SERIES HISTORY
Sunday's game will mark the 20th time the Dons and Aggies have squared off.  The series dates back to USF's inaugural season, 1985, when the Dons lost to UCD 4-0 on Oct. 15, 1985.  UC Davis boasts a 10-6-3 overall record against the Dons, and are 6-4-1 at Negoesco Stadium.  The last time these two teams faced each other was on Sep. 1, 2017, when the Aggies defeated USF 2-1 in Davis and snapped a three-game winning streak by the Dons.
