SAN FRANCISCO - The University of San Francisco women's tennis team will face San Jose State University at home at the Olympic Club on Thursday, February 6. The Dons are currently 1-1 on this season.
LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, the Dons grabbed its first win this dual match season with a 6-1 victory over Sacramento State.
The Dons started doubles with a dropped match, but rallied back with wins from Mya Bui and Emily Maxfield (6-4), and Arianna Capogrosso and Chiho Mushika (6-3).
USF continued with wins from Mushika (6-0, 6-4), Capogrosso (6-2, 6-3), Alicia Yue (6-2, 7-6 [7-4]), and Bui (6-3, 7-6 [8-6]). Sacramento State came away with a match win against Alexa Meyer, but with the Dons already up 5-1, the match went to USF after Maxfield finished on her court with a 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) win.
LAST TIME OUT VS. SAN JOSE STATE
The Dons struggled against San Jose State last season when they dropped the match 1-4.
The Spartans earned the doubles point with quick wins on courts No. 1 and No. 2. Bui was able to get a match win for the Dons, but SJSU had already clinched the match 4-1.
SJSU has played in only one dual match this season, defeating Sacramento State 6-1 last week, giving them a 1-0 record.
FUN STATS
The Dons have two players who are 2-0 so far this season in singles. Both Maxfield and Mushika snagged wins against UC Santa Barbara and Sacramento State.
