Women's Soccer Come up Short at Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Saturday afternoon's USF Dons' women's soccer (5-6-2, 1-3) didn't go San Francisco's way as they fell on the road to the Santa Clara Broncos (7-4-2, 4-0) 2-0 at Stevens Stadium. The Broncos scored both of their goals in the first half of action as the Dons defense tightened up in the second half of action to keep the match close.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
  • Santa Clara got on the board first on a goal from Kelsey Turnbow at the 14-minute mark of the match.
  • The Broncos added their second and final goal courtesy of Kailie Halverson at 29 minutes of game action.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
  • Goalkeeper Molly Eby recorded nine saves on the afternoon as the Broncos kept most of the match in Dons territory.
  • Elle Soleau and Kaylin Lunsford combined for USF's three shot attempts on Saturday.

CATCHING UP WITH COACH MILLINDER:
"I thought the team came out very flat in the first half. If you don't work hard you have no chance to win in our conference. We changed up a few things at halftime and they came out and worked hard in the second half. Unfortunately it was too late against the defending national champions, Santa Clara isa very good team. You can't spot them goals on the road. We come home Wednesday night against a very good BYU team."
