DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • Last time out, the Dons returned home to War Memorial at the Sobrato Center in style by cruising past UNLV, 83-62, on Saturday, Dec. 4 to improve to 9-0. In the win, guard Jamaree Bouyea tied a program record and set a new career-high with eight made three pointers as the fifth year Don dazzled with a season-high 30 points. Additionally, Yauhen Massalski logged his second straight double-double by dominating down low with 18 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and 1 steal.
  • Awarded for his impressive performance, Bouyea was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 6. Notably, the accomplishment marked the first time in his career that Bouyea had earned Player of the Week honors. Through nine games, Bouyea ranks first in the WCC in made field goals (63), first in field goal attempts (116), second in points per game (19.2 ppg) and total points (173), third in minutes per game (351.), fourth in total minutes (316), fourth in blocks (10), seventh in steals (13) and ninth in three-point percentage (46.7). So far, Bouyea has 14+ points in eight of these nine games, including five 20+ point performances.
  • Spreading the wealth, four different Dons come into the matchup against Fresno State averaging double figures: Bouyea (19.2 ppg), Massalski (13.0 ppg), Khalil Shabazz (11.3 ppg) and Gabe Stefanini (10.6 ppg).
  • As a team, USF currently ranks second in the WCC in three-point percentage (38.4) and third in field goal percentage (48.7). Defensively, the Dons lead the conference with an average of 7.7 steals per game while also ranking third with 4.4 blocks per game.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS:
  • In their last outing on the hardwood, Fresno State stifled CSUN, 61-43, at home on Saturday, Dec. 4 to improve to 7-1 for the first time since 2006. In the victory, standout forward Orlando Robinson led the charge with a near double-double as he poured in 22 points while adding 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Overall, Deon Stroud (14 points), Jordan Campbell (11 points) and Isaiah Hill (10 points) all also finished in double figures.
  • Developing into one of the most versatile big men in the country, Robinson has turned heads to start the season as the Las Vegas native has scored at least 15 points in nine straight games while also having reached double figures in fifteen consecutive games. Through Dec. 5, he is one of just three Division I players in the nation averaging at least 20 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game. Additionally, Robinson also leads Fresno State with 27 total assists as he has tallied at least one assist in 35 of his last 36 games (13 consecutive contests).
  • Heading into the matchup, the Bulldogs currently lead the Mountain West and are sixth in the nation in scoring defense (55.25 ppg allowed). In the first release of the 2021-22 season, Fresno State came in at No. 93 in the NCAA's NET rankings.
SERIES HISTORY:
  • Coming into Wednesday, USF currently holds a 14-8 advantage in the all-time series between the two programs, including a 7-2 mark against Fresno State at home. In their previous meeting, the Dons were victorious over the Bulldogs on the road in Fresno, 71-69, on Dec. 23, 2019.
