WBB | Dons Return Home, Host Santa Clara

The University of San Francisco women's basketball team currently returns home after a two-game road trip to the Pacific Northwest.  The Dons have won seven of their last eight and are currently in sixth in the latest Ken Pomeroy/WCC Standings. Saturday's game against the Broncos is slated for a 2:00 p.m. tip and will be streamed on the WCC Network with George Devine handling the play-by-play duties.

LAST TIME OUT
The Dons came back from a nine-point deficit in the third quarter to defeat Portland at the Chiles Center 74-71 last Sunday. With the win, the Dons improved to 12-9 on the year and 8-7 in the West Coast Conference. The win was the Dons seventh in their last eight.  Amalie Langer went off for a career-high 21 points.
 
A WIN WOULD MEAN...
• The Dons would improve to 13-9 on the season
• Improve the Dons 6-3 at home. 
• Improve the Dons to 43-61 all-time against the Broncos
• Give the Dons a 7-4 record against Santa Clara under Goodenbour.
• Ensure the Dons at worst a .500 record overall in Conference play
• Give the Dons their ninth WCC win – most since 2017-18 (10).
• Give USF a sweep over the Broncos for the first time since the 2017-18 season.   
 
CLIMBING THE NET
The Dons have risen drastically in the all-important NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET rankings).  Prior to the Dons six-game winning streak earlier in the year, the Dons were ranked 200th in the NET rankings, second to last in the WCC. The Dons are currently in fourth in the WCC at 117th trailing Gonzaga (22), BYU (49th), and San Diego (104th).  
 
IOANNA CHASES HISTORY
The eight-time WCC Freshman of the Week is currently in third in a single-season with 72 she trails only Shay Rollins who is first and second all-time with 77 and 75 made threes in back-to-back seasons. At Krimili's current pace of made 3-point field goals per game, she will tie the record against the Broncos.
 
SCOUTING REPORT:  SANTA CLARA BRONCOS
Santa Clara enters Saturday's game having won five of their last seven.  On the road they are they are 11-4. Last time out, SCU defeated Loyola Marymount 79-65 in Southern California.  The Broncos are averaging 64.9 points per game as a team and are shooting 41.6 percent from the field. Leading the team in scoring is Lindsey VanAllen at 12.6 points per game. 
 
SERIES VS. BRONCOS
Saturday marks the 107th time the Dons and Broncos have squared off.  The rivalry goes back to before women's basketball was officially recognized by USF.  All-time the Broncos own a 64-42 advantage in the series.  Under Goodenbour the Dons are 6-4 against USF's rival from the South Bay.  Last time out, USF blasted Santa Clara 67-54 thanks to Amalie Langer's history night, the redshirt sophomore was a perfect 8-for-8 from the field with a career-high 21 points.
