WGOLF | Dons in 10th After Day One of BYU Spring Classic

HURRICANE, Utah — The University of San Francisco women's golf team sat in 10th place Monday after two rounds of play at the BYU Spring Classic, with three players among the top-20, at Sand Hollow Golf Course.
The Dons totaled 620 on the day after a first-round team score of 308 and a second-round total of 312. They sat only five strokes away from ninth-place Weber State and were within 16 strokes of three other teams up to sixth-place Utah Valley.
Jade Siphomsay was the highest-placing Don on the leaderboard through two rounds, sitting tied for 12th after posting a four-over combined score of 148 (77-71) on the par-72 course. Siphomsay was one of two Dons playing as individuals (not included in team scoring) who was in the top-20 Monday. Hannah Zeman was tied for 16th, only one stroke behind Siphomsay at 149 (73-76).
Joan Soewondo was also tied for 16th at 149 (71-78) as the Dons' top team scoring player. She had three birdies in the first round to shoot a one-under 71. Annika Borrelli was just outside the top-20, tying for 21st through two rounds with a 151 total score (77-74). She improved on her first round score by three strokes on the second go-around, shooting a 74 in round two with two birdies, both on par 3s on the course's back nine.
Toni Sottile shot back-to-back rounds of seven-over 79 to total 158 for the day and tie for 44th. Pearl Rojanapeansatith shot consecutive rounds of 81 for a 162 total score and hold 63rd place. Toni St. John was tied for 66th after rounds of 81 and 84 (165) Monday.
