STOCKTON, Calif. – Competing in their first road match of conference play, the University of San Francisco volleyball team (0-11, 0-3) jumped out to an early lead over Pacific (4-10, 1-2) at the Alex G. Spanos Center, but ultimately fell to the Tigers in four sets, 3-1.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Aiming to garner momentum in the opening moments of the match, the Dons took an early 4-2 advantage on an attack error by Pacific's Ramonni Cook. Trading points as the action continued, the Dons held their lead with a 6-1 run in the middle of set, putting USF on top, 15-12. Finding the necessary stops they needed down the stretch, the Dons hung on to clinch a 25-23 victory in set one to take an early 1-0 lead.
- Moving into the second set, the Dons rode their rhythm following a kill from Orsula Staka to remain on top of the Tigers, 7-6. Responding shortly thereafter, Pacific rallied to record 12 of the match's 14 final points to secure the set two win, 25-17.
- In the third set, USF tied the score at 6-6 following a kill from Katie Wagstaff. Similar to the second set, the Tigers answered by tallying two more runs of their own to close out the set win, 25-16, and take a 2-1 advantage.
- Keeping pace, the Dons continued to fight as Staka and Sophie Sydenham logged two kills in the middle of the fourth set to keep the score even at 10. Unfortunately, Pacific would use the support of their home crowd to steal set four, 25-14, and lock down the 3-1 match victory.
