DONS AT A GLANCE:
- Last time out, the Dons notched their second shutout victory of the young season and their first win this fall at Negoesco Stadium with a 1-0 win over UC San Diego on Sunday, Sept. 5. In the contest, Marissa Vasquez delivered a beautiful pass to the cutting Samantha Curwood-Wagner inside the box, who then punched home the goal to score the lone point of the game for either side.
- Notably, this will be USF's third non-conference matchup against a Pac-12 opponent in their first five games as the Dons also faced Oregon on Aug. 22 (2-2, Tie) and California on Sept. 2 (1-0, Loss).
- Individually, Molly Eby comes into the contest tied for second in the WCC with only three goals allowed through four games.Â
SCOUTING THE CARDINAL:
- Beginning with a matchup against the Dons, Stanford will open a six-match home stand this week. Notably, the Cardinal are 81-4-8 at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium since the start of the 2014 season.
- As a team, Stanford currently owns the second-best scoring offense in the Pac-12 (3.40 goals per game) while also ranking twelfth nationally. Applying pressure no matter the opponent, the Cardinal are averaging 21.80 shots per game, good for second in the Pac-12 and 13th nationally.
- Known as a perennial powerhouse on the pitch, Stanford has won two of the last four College Cups, with their most recent crown coming in 2019. Impressively, head coach Paul Ratcliffe enters his 19th season on The Farm, where he has compiled a 329-60-31 overall record. During his time at Stanford, Ratcliffe has led his team to three NCAA Championships, five NCAA finals appearances, nine Pac-12 titles, nine College Cup appearances and a berth in the third round of the NCAA Tournament in 13 of the past 15 seasons.Â
SERIES HISTORY:
- Overall, Stanford currently holds a 21-match win streak over the Dons, dating back to Oct. 11, 1985. Most recently, the Cardinals downed USF, 9-0, on Sept. 8, 2019 in San Francisco.
