SCOUTING THE DONS:
  • Grinding out their first road win of the new season on Wednesday, USF took down Fresno State, 67-60, in Fresno on Nov. 16 as the Dons rode highlight performances from Tyrell Roberts (22 points) and Zane Meeks. For Meeks, the junior tallied his first double-double in the green and gold by registering a new career-high with 20 points to go along with 10 rebounds and two blocks in 27 minutes played.
  • Through the first two weeks of the year, USF is one of only two remaining unbeaten teams in the WCC as the Dons are still perfect at 4-0 while Bay Area rival Saint Mary's is also 5-0.
  • As a team, USF's defense has been stout so far as their 64.0 points allowed per game ranks second in the conference behind Saint Mary's (51.6). Additionally, the Dons also sit in the top five in the WCC in steals per game (8.8, second), defensive rebounds per game (30.8, third), free throw percentage (72.4, third), blocks per game (4.0, third), total rebounds per game (41.5, fourth) and rebound margin (8.0, fifth).
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS:
  • Playing for the first time in ten days, Northern Iowa dropped their last contest on Nov. 11 as the Panthers fell on the road at Richmond, 68-55, before their game at No. 18 Virginia was canceled on Nov. 14.
  • Entering Monday, Nate Heise has the opportunity to become the 112th member of UNI's 500 point club as he currently sits just ten points shy of the mark.
  • Under head coach Ben Jacobson, UNI is 23-16 in early season tournaments, which includes four tournament titles under his leadership.
SCOUTING THE LOPES:
  • Enjoying success out of the gates, Grand Canyon is 3-1 through their first four games in 2022-23, including an 81-48 defeat of Grambling State in their last time out on Nov. 18.
  • Last season, GCU topped USF, 49-48, in a defensive battle at Footprint Center in Phoenix, Ariz. on Dec. 18, 2021. Notably, the loss marked USF's first of the year as the Dons were previously 10-0 prior to their meeting with the Lopes.
  • Overall, Grand Canyon is outscoring their opponents by an average of 19.2 points per game as the Lopes are averaging 72.0 points per game while holding their opponent to just 52.8 points per game.
SCOUTING THE SHOCKERS:
  • Squeezing out a tough road win at Richmond on Nov. 17, Wichita State took down the Spiders, 56-53 on Nov. 17 behind a sound defensive effort and a career-high 20 points from Jaykwon Walton.
  • Familiar to the scene, this week will mark Wichita State's third appearance all-time in the Hall of Fame Classic and their first since 2013, when the Shockers won the event. That year, Ron Baker captured tournament MVP while Fred VanVleet represented WSU on the All-Tournament Team. Notably, Wichita State is 3-1 all-time at the T-Mobile Center and 17-12 all-time in Kansas City.
  • Getting offense from multiple sources so far this season, Wichita State has had a different leading scorer in each of their first three games.
SERIES HISTORY:
  • Monday's matchup between USF and the Northern Iowa will mark the first meeting all-time between the two programs.

TRACK THE ACTION:
Both games from Kansas City will air live on CBS Sports Network and KNBR 1050. Live statistics are available via Statbroadcast or the team's schedule page
