SAN FRANCISCO, Calif./PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Coming off an impressive 4-0 home sweep over the St. John's Red Storm, the USF Dons baseball team (9-4) is back in action riding a four game winning streak as they welcome the Fresno State Bulldogs to the Hilltop on Wednesday afternoon before heading southeast to Phoenix to battle the Arizona State Sun Devils for their first road series of the season.
USF bounced back from an extra inning loss to San José State to a St John's outscoring them 39-15 in the four game sweep at Benedetti Diamond. The Dons offense has been led by the fantastic individual performances from
Luke Keaschall,
Gabe Giosso,
Nick Yovetich and
Jordan Vujovich as they've all posted 1.000 OPS or higher showing their ability to both get on base and to hit with power.

DONS SWEEP:
- It was a tremendous weekend for the Dons at home as they played four complete games to sweep St John's in the first ever games between the two programs.
- The Dons' offense worked great at-bats all series to put pressure on the Red Storm pitching as they had back to back games where the team drew eight walks.
- Giosso and Keaschall have put together tremendous starts to their 2022 season with Gabe hitting .344 and Luke just behind at .340 and both have hit two home runs so far this season.
- USF's starting pitching has been anchored by two strong starters at the top of their rotation with Stevenson and Lombard each sporting sub 2.00 ERA's while opposing hitters are also hitting sub .200 against the pair of Dons' starters.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS:
- Fresno State is off to a 6-5 start to the season as they took two of three over the weekend against WCC opponent Portland in Fresno.
- USF will need to be aware of Mason Grotto and Zach Morgan in the Bulldog lineup as each as hitting better than .400 in the early part of the season.
- FSU will send right hander Trevor Garcia to the hill against USF on Wednesday as he will be making his third start and seventh appearance of the 2022 season.
SCOUTING THE SUN DEVILS:
- ASU has gotten off to an inconsistent start to their season as they were swept by BYU at home but recently took two of three against San Diego State on the road.
- Leading their offense this season has been a combination of Conor Davis and Joe Lampe who both have greater than .400 batting averages and have each hit four home runs through the early part of the season.
- Right hander Tyler Meyer has been the Sun Devils' best starter through three turns of the rotation with a 1-0 record and a 1.32 ERA in four games pitched and two starts this year.
- Arizona State head coach Willie Bloomquist is in his first year leading the program as he returns to his alma mater where he played three seasons for the Sun Devils and was the 1999 Pac 10 Player of the Year.
