SPOKANE, Wash. – The University of San Francisco volleyball team (10-13, 4-7) earned a straight-sets victory over Gonzaga (3-18, 0-10), winning 3-0, Saturday afternoon at the Charlotte Y. Martine Centre.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- The Dons opened the match on a 6-0 run, setting the tone early with Kennedy Muckelroy, Hayden Goodman, and Maria Petkova leading the team offensively. The Bulldogs, however, closed the deficit, winning five straight points to cut the Dons' lead to 6-5.
- Leading by one, 16-15, midway through the first set, the Dons ended the frame on a 9-1 run, including winning the final six points to secure the set, 25-16.
- Keeping the momentum in the second set, Karolina Nova recorded the first kill of the frame for green and gold and helped the Dons to an early 5-2 lead. Leading by two, 12-10, later in the set, Lindsay Oldendorf sparked a 5-0 run with two of her team-leading 12 kills, giving the team a commanding 17-10 advantage.
- After a kill from Petkova gave the Dons a 21-14 lead, the Bulldogs used a late surge by going on a 6-1 scoring run to close the deficit to 22-20. San Francisco later shut the door on the frame with three straight kills from Lauren Perri and Muckelroy to end the set, 25-20.
- In a tight third set, the two teams were tied at seven until the Bulldogs pulled ahead by going on a 6-2 scoring run to take a 12-9 advantage. Continuing to exchange points, the Dons came back from being down three, 18-15, with a 7-3 scoring run to level the set at 20.
- A kill by Hayden Goodman brought the Dons to match point at 24-22, and a block assist by Aylen Ayub and Godman secured it for San Francisco to claim the sweep over Gonzaga.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Leading both teams in points and kills, Oldendorf recorded 13.5 points with 12 kills on 19 attempts for a kill percentage of .632.
- Ayub tallied 30 assists alongside three kills and two block assists. Ayub has totaled 625 assists this season, the most on the team.
- Petkova was a crucial asset in the match, tallying six kills, 17 digs, her second most this season, and three service aces.

San Francisco returns home next week when it hosts Pacific at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, at War Memorial Gym at the Sobrato Center.
