Dons Hit the Road, Travel to Take on Arizona State

TEMPE, Ariz. – The University of San Francisco women's basketball team (1-1), coming off its first win of the season, hits the road when it faces off against Arizona State (2-0) at 6 p.m. PT on Monday, Nov. 13, at Desert Financial Arena.

DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • San Francisco enters Monday's non-conference contest after defeating Stanislaus State, 92-70, in the home opener on Thursday, Nov. 7. Jasmine Gayles led the Dons throughout the win over the Warriors, scoring a game-high 21 points. Gayles leads the team and ranks first in the WCC in scoring, averaging 25.5 points per game after surpassing the 20-point threshold for the second consecutive game.
  • Luana Leite added 16 points for the Dons in the win, shooting a perfect five-for-five from the field and connecting on six of her nine free-throw attempts. In just her second game as a Don, Leite added six rebounds and dished out two assists.
  • Recording back-to-back double-digit rebound performances, Debora dos Santos collected a career-high 13 rebounds in the win over Stanislaus State. Surpassing her previous best of 12 set in the season opener at UC Santa Barbara, dos Santos now has accumulated seven games of recording 10+ rebounds in her career.
  • The Dons rank 70th in Division I and first in the WCC in scoring, averaging 83.5 points per game. The green and gold are shooting 45.2 percent (56-for-124) from the field through two games and 33.3 percent (15-for45) from beyond the three-point line.
SCOUTING THE SUN DEVILS:
  • Arizona State enters the game with a 2-0 record after defeating UTSA and Montana State to open the season. The Sun Devils, who are coming off an 8-20 record from a season ago, are averaging 72.5 points per game while holding their opponents to 58.5.
  • Jaddan Simmons leads the team in scoring, averaging 17 points per game and shooting 57.1. percent (eight-for-14) from the three-point line.
  • In her first season with the team after playing her freshman season at Louisville, Jalyn Brown reached double figures in both games to start the 2023-24 season. Brown scored a season-high 16 points in the season-opening win against UTSA and added 11 in the win over Montana State. 
ALL-TIME SERIES:
  • San Francisco and Arizona State have faced off twice in program history, with the Sun Devils winning in both games. The first-ever meeting was in the 1981-82 season, where the Sun Devils defeated the Dons 68-56. Four seasons later, the Sun Devils dismantled the Dons, earning an 80-66 win in 1985-86.
