SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco volleyball team (10-18, 4-12) closed out the season Saturday afternoon, falling to Pepperdine (19-7, 15-1), 3-0, on Senior Day at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
 
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

• In a tight beginning to the first set, San Francisco and Pepperdine split the first eight points as the frame was tied at four in the early goings. Hayden Goodman, Crystal Galaviz, and Astrid Puig propelled the team at the start of the set as Puig and Galaviz recorded kills, and Goodman added a service ace.
• However, the Waves pulled ahead throughout the remainder of the set, extending their advantage to 12, 20-8, later on. The Dons pulled within nine, 24-15 before the Waves secured the first set win shortly after, 25-15.
• Pepperdine took a two-set lead after the second set, dominating throughout to take it, 25-13.
• San Francisco began the third set off fast, jumping out to a 13-6 lead midway through. With the set tied at four, the Dons, led by Karolina Nova, used a 5-0 scoring run to take the lead and push it to five, 9-4. During the run, Nova recorded two service aces.
• Despite holding for most of the set, San Francisco fell behind late as Pepperdine won five of the last eight points to secure the match, 25-23. 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

• Maria Petkova led the Dons in kills, recording six throughout the match. Petkova also finished with four digs and two block assists.
• Nova, competing in her final match with the Dons, tallied five kills and led the team in digs with seven.
• Aylen Ayub added 13 assists and recorded a .500 hitting percentage.
