Volleyball Falls to Pacific in Four Sets

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco volleyball team (10-14, 4-8) dropped a four-set match to Pacific (15-8, 7-4), falling 3-1 Thursday night at War Memorial at The Sobrato Center.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

  • Starting in the first set, Pacific came out fast, gaining a 7-2 advantage. San Francisco, however, quickly closed the deficit and went on a 6-1 scoring run with three kills and one block assist by Kennedy Muckelroy to even the frame at 13. Responding with a four-point scoring run, the Tigers regained the lead and ultimately took the set 25-20.
  • In the second set, Pacific came out strong, extending its advantage to 10-5. The Dons bounced back again with a 9-3 scoring run to level the game at 14. Hayden Goodman led the charge during the run, accumulating a service ace while kills from Muckelroy and Maria Petkova propelled the team. 
  • Trailing by two points late in the frame, 17-15, the green and gold came from behind, winning 10 of the last 13 points to take the set 25-19.
  • Responding in the third set, Pacific quickly took a 15-5 lead and continued to hold onto their advantage, ending the set at 25-9. 
  • In the fourth set, Muckelroy took the first point for the Dons. Gaining the front foot, Pacific went up 9-3. San Francisco could not pull ahead and dropped the final set 25-16.  

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

  • Muckelroy led the Dons in kills and points, tallying 13 kills and 16 points alongside three total blocks.
  • Aylen Ayub logged a hitting percentage of .714 with five kills on seven attacks. The setter also recorded 23 assists throughout the match.
  • Defensively, Goodman recorded five total blocks, a match-high, adding to her overall total of 92 blocks on the season.

San Francisco will be back in action when they face San Diego at 7:00 pm on Thursday, Nov. 9 at Jenny Craig Pavilion.
