Women's Tennis Readies for Busy Week

SAN JOSE/LA JOLLA, Calif. -- Getting back into the action following a rainout on Saturday, the USF Dons women's tennis team (4-5, 0-1) is back to work with three matches this week to compete on the road starting with the San José State Spartans (4-5) on Tuesday, March 14 at noon before heading down to Southern California to face the UC San Diego Tritons (6-9) on Thursday, March 16 at 1:00 p.m. and will face the Dartmouth Big Green at 9:30 a.m. from Southern California.
For the Dons, Azaria Hayes holds a strong singles record of 4-1 so far this season. Additionally, Maria Martinez Vaquero also has been solid in the singles group with a record of 6-2. Together in doubles, Hayes and Martinez Vaquero secured a win in their only match played as a duo, staying 1-0.
In the longstanding series history against the Spartans, the Dons trail 6-8 overall. In their last meetup, the Dons secured a win against San Jose with a final score of 4-2 at their home courts on March 4, 2022. Their second opponent of the week, UC San Diego will face the Dons for the first time in their program's history. Against Dartmouth, the Dons have only faced them once before in January 2016 and are looking to get their first win against the Big Green.
