IRVINE, Calif. - Closing out their weekend on a high note, the University of San Francisco volleyball team (2-1) took care of business on Sunday at Bren Events Center as the Dons defeated host UC Irvine (0-3), 3-1, to wrap up the UCI/Adidas Invitational.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Hitting their stride out of the gates, UC Irvine got off to a hot start on their home floor as the Anteaters jumped out to an 11-3 lead early on. Answering right back, San Francisco responded with an 8-3 run to come within three, 13-10, after three UC Irvine errors and a kill from Karolina Nova.
- As the first set progressed, the two teams exchanged points back and forth, but the hosts ultimately pulled away with a 6-1 run to close out the Dons, 25-19, and go up 1-0.
- After both sides opened the second set evenly, the green and gold used a 6-2 stretch to take control, 12-9. Shortly thereafter, another 6-1 run kept San Francisco on top, 19-13.
- Although the Anteaters would fight back within two points, the Dons pulled away to even things up by taking set two, 25-21.
- Similar to the second set, USF and UCI were matching each other through the start of set three. Coming down to the final stretch, San Francisco dug deep and reeled off a 4-1 run, which included points coming from four different Dons. Heating up with every point, the green and gold took set three, 25-21, to go ahead 2-1 in the match.
- Riding their momentum from the previous sets, USF jumped out to a 6-1 advantage to start set four. Extending their lead to double digits, San Francisco rode the strength of a kill from Maria Petkova and three more Anteater errors to go on top 15-5.
- Not going down without a fight, UC Irvine made it a battle late as they climbed back to within six points, 24-18. Wrapping it up with the next point, the Dons hung on, 25-18, to take the match, 3-1.  Â
