Lukrofka, Carpio Power Dons Past Mocs

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Kicking off the second half of a four-game road stretch, the University of San Francisco women's soccer team (2-4-2) built off their recent momentum on Thursday night by picking up their second consecutive victory and ending the Chattanooga Mocs' (6-2) six-game win streak with a 2-0 win at Finley Field.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
  • San Francisco opened strong with the first four shots of the match coming from the Dons as Lindsey ChauKaya Pigoni, Isabelle Esparza, and Allison Kamansky each attempted a shot before the 13th minute.
  • Throughout the first half, the two clubs continued to fire at an equal pace as each side reeled off five shots each between the 13th and 38th minutes.
  • With the two teams stuck in a scoreless tie heading into the final minute of the first half, Olivia Lukrofka put the green and gold on the scoreboard as Isabella Ayau set up her classmate to give the Dons a 1-0 advantage with 53 seconds remaining in the first half of action.
  • To end the half, Ellie Weissenberg nearly gave the Dons a two-goal advantage as her shot attempt in the final seconds of the half hit the crossbar, but San Francisco remained on top heading into the locker room for the second straight game.
  • Kaya Pigoni started the second half attacking early, nearly scoring as she hit the left post of the goal in the 47thminute.
  • Chattanooga looked to quickly counter, with two shot attempts coming within the 52nd and 53rd minutes, but both were saved by USF goalkeeper Kira Ybarra.
  • Shortly after those saves, Lindsey Chau found Alex Carpio in the 55thminute for San Francisco's second goal of the game, giving the Dons a 2-0 lead.
  • Following the goal, UTC would outshoot San Francisco 6-3 for the remainder of the game, with Kira Ybarra saving four of those Mocs shot attempts.
  • Despite these attempts, Chattanooga would be unable to find the back of the net in the final minutes as the Dons would go on to blank the Mocs, 2-0 to secure their second consecutive road victory.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
  • Both Alex Carpio and Olivia Lukrofka each scored goals for the second consecutive match, with Lukrofka scoring in her third straight match.
  • Kira Ybarra set a season-high in saves on Thursday, stopping 8 total Chattanooga shot attempts, the second-most in a match in her collegiate career.
  • Isabella Ayau and Lindsey Chau each recorded their first assists of the season, with Ayau's being the first assist of her collegiate career.
