Lukrofka Nets First Career Goal in Draw at UCSB

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Playing their first of two road games in Southern California this weekend, the University of San Francisco women's soccer team (0-4-2) gave it their all for a full 90 minutes once again as the Dons tied UC Santa Barbara (1-2-4), 1-1, at Harder Stadium on Thursday night.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
  • Getting things started in the 8th minute, Lindsey Chau tallied San Francisco's first shot of the evening.
  • Moving along, the Dons fired off three consecutive shots in the 24th minute which came off the feet of Allison Kamansky, Isabella Ayau and Cade Mendoza, but the green and gold could not find the back of the net to open play.
  • Despite shots from Marissa Vasquez and Olivia Lukrofka as the half played on, San Francisco and UCSB remained scoreless following the first 45 minutes of action.
  • Out of the break, the Dons kept applying pressure as Gabby Rizzo, Vasquez and Hannah Burns all ripped shots of their own, but could still not put it past the keeper.
  • In the 64th minute, the Gauchos broke the scoring drought as Lauren Helwig converted on a penalty kick goal to give UCSB a 1-0 advantage.
  • Shortly thereafter, the green and gold came back fighting as Olivia Lukrofka blasted home her first collegiate in the 75th minute to even things up at 1-1.
  • Down the stretch, Helwig attempted another shot for the hosts while Lindsey Chau and Lukrofka tried to give San Francisco the edge.
  • Leaving it all on the pitch, the Dons could and Gauchos remained even for the rest of the match as the two teams ended in a 1-1 draw on Thursday.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
  • Coming up clutch off the bench, Lukrofka played 34 minutes for San Francisco as she tallied three total shots, including her first goal at the collegiate level. Notably, her three shots led the team against the Gauchos.
  • As a team, the Dons outshot UCSB 6-5 in each half, which resulted in outshooting their opponents 12-10 overall.
  • In just her third game back after returning from injury, Burns played 65 minutes against Santa Barbara, the most by a Don off the bench on Thursday evening.
UP NEXT:
San Francisco will head east to Riverside over the next couple days as the Dons are set for a 5:00 pm matchup at UC Riverside this Sunday, Sept. 10. Live streaming and live statistics are available via the team's schedule page.
