Women's Soccer Wraps Up Regular Season at LMU, No. 22 Pepperdine

LOS ANGELES/MALIBU, Calif. - Closing out the regular season in Southern California, the University of San Francisco women's soccer team (5-9-2, 4-7-1 WCC) will play their final two matches of the fall on the road as the Dons will travel to LMU (10-4-2, 4-2-2 WCC) on Wednesday night before trekking to Pepperdine (11-3-4, 5-1-2 WCC) on Saturday afternoon.

DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • Last time out, San Francisco celebrated their graduating class on Saturday, Nov. 2, but the Dons fell at home, 1-0, to Washington State.
  • With two matches remaining on the schedule, Kira Ybarra is currently fifth in the WCC in saves (62) while also ranking ninth in save percentage (.681). Overall, her five clean sheets on the year are also tied for fifth within the conference.
  • As the season winds down, Ybarra and Ellie Weissenberg look to continue their consistent play as the duo have each started and played in all 16 matches so far for the Dons. 
SCOUTING THE LIONS:
  • Last week, LMU picked up a handful of points as the Lions defeated Oregon State, 2-1, on the road in Corvallis on Wednesday, Oct. 23 before drawing Portland, 2-2, on the road on Saturday, Oct. 26.
  • Heading into the final week of the regular season, LMU still has a shot at a conference crown as the Lions are 10-4-2 overall, including a 4-2-2 mark in WCC action, which currently has the team tied for fourth.
  • Making her case for Player of the Year, Kylie Dobbs leads the offensive charge for LMU as she paces the conference in shots (71), shots on goal (39), goals (11) and game-winning goals (4) heading into Wednesday's match. Defensively, JJ Hoover currently sits second in the WCC in save percentage (.791) and fourth in saves (68). 
SCOUTING THE WAVES:
  • Coming into the week at No. 22 in the national rankings, Pepperdine is hungry for a conference crown as the Waves bested San Diego, 5-1, last Saturday, Nov. 2.
  • Heading into the final week of WCC play, Pepperdine is currently in a three-way tie for first place with Santa Clara and Oregon State at 5-1-2 and 17 points. Notably, the Waves are 5-2-2 on their home pitch this fall.
  • Making her mark, Tori Waldeck is third in the conference with nine goals on the year whole her 18 shots on goal is good for eighth in the WCC.
SERIES HISTORY:
  • Dating back to 1993, LMU currently holds a 17-10 lead in the head-to-head series against San Francisco. Despite the advantage, the Dons have not lost to the Lions since 2019 as the two teams tied 1-1 on the Hilltop last season. In 2022, San Francisco was victorious over LMU, 4-3, in their last matchup in Los Angeles.
  • Dating back to 1993, Pepperdine currently holds a 18-10-3 lead in the head-to-head series against San Francisco. Notably, the Dons were last victorious over the Waves in 2015 as Pepperdine defeated San Francisco, 4-0, on the Hilltop last season.
