SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Head coach Jack Kennedy and the University of San Francisco men's golf program officially announced its full schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 season on Wednesday afternoon.
"We are extremely excited about the 2024-25 schedule," said Kennedy. "As we do every year, we try and put together a competitive, national schedule that positions and prepares us for NCAA regionals. We have a great balance of elite events, prestigious venues and great student-athlete experiences. We can't wait to tee it up back east in September!"
This fall, San Francisco's slate is highlighted by the third year of the USF/Howard Intercollegiate, which will return to TPC Potomac at Avenal Farm in Potomac, Md. on Sept. 9 + 10, 2024. Overall, this event will be co-hosted with Howard University as the focus will be on equity and inclusion within the sport of golf. Notably, the Dons won the inaugural event at this course in Sept. 2022 before placing second as a team in Sept. 2023 when the tournament moved west to TPC Harding Park in San Francisco.
In the spring, the San Francisco men's and women's golf teams will co-host the Olympic Club Intercollegiate, which is set to take place on Apr. 1 + 2, 2025. For the men, the Ocean Course will be utilized during the tournament.
USF will also participate in two tournaments hosted by West Coast Conference opponents - the Leadership and Golf Collegiate Championship (hosted by Saint Mary's) at Bayonet & Black Horse from Oct. 21-23, 2024 and the Pauma Valley Invitational (hosted by LMU) at Pauma Valley Country Club on Mar. 17 + 18, 2025.
Additionally, San Francisco will compete in The Goodwin (hosted by Stanford) for the fourth straight year while also participating in the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate (hosted by New Mexico) for the third straight year. Locally, USF will suit up for the El Macero Classic (hosted by UC Davis) for the fourth time in seven years.
As a team, the green and gold are hungry to return to the postseason after making the NCAA Regionals for three consecutive years prior to 2023-24. Despite the team not making it last season, Jakob Melin did qualify as an individual for the Stanford Regional, where the two-time All-WCC selection finished tied for 36th overall at 2-over.
