Men’s Soccer Heads North to Face No. 11 Seattle U

SEATTLE, Wash. - The University of San Francisco men's soccer team (0-2-2) continues their stretch of road matches this weekend as the Dons head north to take on No. 11 Seattle U (1-0-1) at Championship Field on Friday evening.

DONS AT A GLANCE:
- Competing in the Jesuit Invitational last week, San Francisco fell on the road at Omaha, 1-0, on Thursday, Aug. 29 before dropping a hard-fought battle at Creighton, 4-2, on Sunday, Sept. 1.
- On the attacking side, eight different players have logged points so far this year, which has come on the strength of four goals and four assists. Freshman David Raphael has impressed to begin his time on the Hilltop as the first-year Don has put his first three collegiate shots on frame.
- Holding down the fort defensively, center back Reid Roberts is the only field player to play every minute of every game to start the season, followed by Eric Waltz in goal.
- Through the first three weeks of games, Seattle U has held their place as the No. 11 ranked team in the NCAA. This week's match will be their home opener after beating South Florida 4-1 on the road and earning a 1-1 tie against No. 19 Central Florida last week.
- Senior Jeremy Opong started the season strong offensively scoring two goals in Seattle's first match against South Florida on Aug. 22. The forward leads the team in shots heading into Thursday, recording six total over their two games played.
- Charlie Lanphier, a redshirt junior goalie for the Redhawks, has made five saves over 21 shots faced to start the season off.
- San Francisco last faced Seattle U at Negoesco Field on Sept. 8, 2022 as the Dons and Redhawks tied 1-1. Overall, the two programs have only faced each other twice in their histories, with their first meeting dating back to a 5-0 Seattle U on Aug. 30, 2019.
