DONS AT A GLANCE:
- After dropping their game at Saint Mary's last Thursday, Jan. 23, San Francisco bounced back last Saturday, Jan. 25 with an 81-69 victory over San Diego in the first of a three-game homestand to improve to 13-0 at War Memorial this season. Four Dons scored in double figures in the win, including Ryan Beasley's highest scoring game of conference action - 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting to go along with four assists in 25 minutes off the bench.
- The Dons are now 12-1 on the season when they score at least 80 points with USF's lone defeat coming against Washington State in Pullman on Jan. 4.
- Striping it from beyond the arc, Carlton Linguard Jr. had his best three-point shooting stretch last week, shooting 7-of-15 from downtown across the last two games.
- Heading into Saturday, the Dons sit at third in the WCC standings, one game ahead of fourth-place Oregon State and Santa Clara. Notably, the green and gold are tied with Gonzaga for the second-most conference wins (seven) as of Friday night. In the NCAA's NET Rankings, San Francisco has the fifth-highest ranking among WCC teams at No. 69, just four spots behind Santa Clara (65) and eight spots behind Oregon State (61).
SCOUTING THE COUGARS:
- After winning its first three games of WCC action, Washington State has lost five of its last seven games, currently riding a three-game skid. Last time out, the Cougars suffered a season sweep against Pacific, falling in a 70-68 contest in Stockton on Thursday, Jan. 30.
- Three of WSU's five losses have come by five points or less, notably losing both of its contests to Pacific by a total of three points. The Cougars have lost three of their last four road games as they are set to test the Dons' perfect home record on the Hilltop.
- Within conference play, the Cougars have been one of the WCC's best shooting teams, ranking second in three-point percentage (39.8) and third in field goal percentage (50.2).
- Dominating on both sides of the ball, junior guard Nate Calmese currently leads the WCC in steals per game (2.0) within conference play while also ranking in the top eight in the league in points per game (17.0, sixth), field goal percentage (51.8, fifth) and assists per game (4.3, eighth).
SERIES HISTORY:
- San Francisco looks to earn a season series split against Washington State as the Cougars took the first matchup, 91-82, on Jan. 4 in Pullman. Saturday night will mark the fourth all-time meeting between the two programs as Washington State will visit San Francisco for the third time overall, which includes two wins in their past trips. With a win, the Dons would capture their first victory over Washington State in program history.
