DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • In its final nonconference road game on Saturday, San Francisco was unable to escape Saint Louis with a victory, falling to the Billikens, 85-75, on Saturday, Dec. 13 at Chaifetz Arena. Ryan Beasley put together his fourth 20-point outing of the season, scoring a game-high 21 points in 34 minutes. Tyrone Riley IV eclipsed his season-high in scoring for a second consecutive game, scoring 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Legend Smiley scored in double digits for the fourth time in his freshman season, scoring 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting in 19 minutes off the bench.
  • Rebounding has been the key factor for USF this season, as the Dons are 6-1 on the year when they win the battle on the glass, and 0-4 when they do not outrebound their opponent.
  • With less than two weeks to go before the start of West Coast Conference (WCC) action, USF continues to lead the WCC in three-pointers per game, hitting 9.6 threes per game, tied for 67th-most in the country.
  • Since the arena opened in 2019, San Francisco men's basketball holds a 3-4 record at Chase Center, with the green and gold looking to snap a three-game losing streak at the home of the Warriors and Valkyries. USF is looking for its first win in Mission Bay since Nov. 26, 2023, when USF took down Minnesota 76-58 in the first annual USF Legacy doubleheader.
SCOUTING THE RAMBLERS:
  • Loyola Chicago has struggled to begin its 2025-26 campaign, winning just three of its first 11 games of the season, most recently having lost to Chicago State, 84-75, on Sunday, Dec. 14.
  • Among LUC's transfers, Wisconsin transfer Xavier Amos made his Ramblers debut on Sunday evening, starting the game and scoring a team-high 18 points on 4-of-7 shooting from three in 22 minutes.
  • Following a trip to the semifinals of the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) last season, the Ramblers return just four players from the 2024-25 squad, including junior center Miles Rubin, who is averaging a team-high 12.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per game (sixth-most in the A-10).
  • The Dons will look to take advantage of the turnover battle as Loyola Chicago has the 18th-lowest turnover margin in the country, turning the ball over 4.00 more times per game than its opponents.
SERIES HISTORY:
  • San Francisco and Loyola Chicago will meet for the ninth time in program history at Chase Center on Wednesday night, with the Ramblers holding a 5-3 all-time series advantage. Last season, the two squads met twice, first at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisc., where the Dons took a 76-66 win on Dec. 15, 2024. In the postseason, Loyola Chicago visited the Hilltop in what turned out to be USF's final game of the 2024-25 season, with LUC taking down the green and gold in a nail-biting 77-76 win in the second round of the 2025 NIT on Mar. 23.
