SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco baseball team (18-25, 6-11 WCC) closed out its West Coast Conference series with a dominant 16-0 win over Pepperdine (11-32, 6-11 WCC) on Sunday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- San Francisco broke through in the second inning with a seven-run burst sparked by back-to-back RBI singles from Kody Watanabe and TJ Rogers. Patrick Keighran highlighted the inning with a two-run double off the left-field wall, giving the Dons a commanding 7-0 lead.
- The green and gold kept the pressure on, and two more runs in the fourth and fifth innings, marked by Jordan Lewis's RBI single, stretching the lead to 9-0.
- The Dons broke the game wide open in the sixth frame with another seven-run outburst, fueled by Kenny DeCelle's RBI single to score JT Amaral and another two-run double from Keighran, capping off a dominant 16-0 victory.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Keighran delivered a huge game, going three-for-four with four RBI, two runs scored, and a walk.
- Lewis and Tyler Harries fueled the Dons' offense, with Lewis going a flawless two-for-two with three RBI, a walk, and two runs scored, and Harries turning in a three-for-three day with three runs and an RBI.
- Aidan Risse had a strong outing, tossing 5.1 shutout innings with five strikeouts and allowing just five hits.
- The Dons recorded a season-high 16 RBI and tied their season-best mark of 16 runs scored.
