Baseball Hires Tyler McPherson as Director of Recruiting

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco baseball team and Head Coach Rob DiToma have announced the addition of Tyler McPherson as the director of recruiting for the upcoming 2026 season.

"Tyler comes to the program with a great college baseball and recruiting background," DiToma said. "We will lean on his knowledge and work ethic to help spearhead our recruiting efforts and boost this roster to the level we expect to compete at year in and year out."

McPherson enters his first season on the Hilltop after leading recruiting efforts at UC Riverside, Ohlone College, and USA Baseball.

While a member of the staff at UC Riverside, he assisted with recruiting and served as video and analytics coordinator. In 2025, McPherson helped guide the Highlanders to their best start in eight years, as the program finished the non-conference slate at or above .500 for the first time in 14 years.

Before his time in Riverside, McPherson assisted Bay Area junior college power, Ohlone College, helping build the 2024 and 2025 rosters. In two seasons, the Renegades combined for a 60-25 overall record, including 32 victories in the 2025 campaign, a No. 23 national ranking, and two 3C2A Baseball Northern California Regional appearances.

Additionally, McPherson previously served as coordinator of video scouting and player development for USA Baseball at the National Training Center in Cary, N.C. While with the organization, he assisted the player identification and selection processes for the 15U, 18U, and Collegiate National Teams. McPherson also conducted advanced scouting of opposition teams during international competition.
