SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The University of San Francisco women's soccer team (1-2) reversed its recent woes in its home opener on Sunday as the Dons shutout No. 18 Texas Tech (3-1), 2-0, at Negoesco Stadium.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Sydni Yoshi and Lindsey Chau fired the first shots of the match for San Francisco, but neither was successful in finding the back of the net.
- San Francisco opened the scoring when Sasadeusz scored her first goal of the match at 27:47, when a Texas Tech defender lost control of the ball before the forward punched it past the Red Raiders goalkeeper.
- The Dons grabbed a 2-0 advantage on a second goal from Sasadeusz at 79:18 when Sydney Harpster delivered a through ball to the sprinting Sasadeusz, who then snuck it past the opposing keeper once more.
- These two goals would prove to be all San Francisco would need
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- With two goals today and one on Thursday at California, Sasadeusz has now tied her season total in goals from last year (3) in just three matches so far.
- Harpster picked up her first assist of the young season and her second assist of her collegiate career.
- Pinder Nijjar picked up his first career win over an opponent ranked in the Top 25 on Sunday.
- Tyra Bengtsson-Stenseth piled up three saves for the Dons out of 12 total Red Raiders shots.
