Chau Nets Opening Goal as Dons Fall to Terriers

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Despite an early goal from Lindsey Chau, the University of San Francisco women's soccer team (1-3) suffered a narrow 2-1 loss to Boston U. (3-1) Thursday evening at Negoesco Stadium.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

  • San Francisco struck first in the 12th minute of the first half as Chau found the bottom right corner, scoring her second goal of the season to give the team an early 1-0 lead.
  • Trailing 1-0 at the halftime break, Boston U. leveled the game at a goal apiece on a Giulianna Gianino free kick at the 65:25 mark of the second half.
  • Boston U. recorded the game-winning goal less than 20 minutes later as Mackenzie Stickelman scored from close range for a 2-1 lead. The one-goal advantage held until the final whistle as the Terriers secured their third win of the season.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

  • Chau netted the Dons' lone goal, scoring her second goal in the last three contests.
  • Tyra Bengtsson-Stenseth totaled two saves for the green and gold out of eight total shots from the Terriers.
  • Offensively, San Francisco recorded eight shots, with Chau leading the way with two shots on goal. Sydni Yoshida, Kaitlyn Sasadeusz, and Hannah Burns added one shot on goal apiece.

UP NEXT:
San Francisco returns to Negoesco Stadium at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31, when it hosts UC Irvine.
