Katie Burton

Katie Burton will enter her fourth season as a member of the USF women's soccer coaching staff in 2014.

Before coming to USF, Burton spent the year in her native Las Vegas serving as an assistant coach for the Rebels. UNLV posted an 11-8-1 overall record in 2010, a year removed from a 5-9-5 campaign. In addition to her on-field duties, Burton served as the Director of Soccer Operations, for both the men's and women's programs, and was the UNLV Rebels Soccer Camp Director.

Before returning to Las Vegas, Burton spent three seasons (2007-09) as the Graduate Assistant Coach at Sacramento State University.  She also served as the Hornet Summer Camp Director, as wells as, coached for the San Juan Soccer Club and a number of other local competitive teams during her graduate assistantship at Sacramento State University.

Burton was a standout player for Sacramento State and captured four varsity letters.  After suffering a season-ending injury, Burton bounced back for a strong first season for the Hornets in 2003, capturing All-Big Sky honorable mention selection and team Co-MVP and Rookie of the Year honors. As team captain in 2006, Burton anchored the Hornets defense, playing on both the back line and defensive midfield. For her efforts as a junior, Burton All-Big Sky Second Team accolades and was named team Defensive MVP, lifting the Hornets to the BigSky Championship game for the first time in program history.

Burton capped her collegiate career with a flourish in 2007 and propelled Sacramento State to the Big Sky Tournament Championship and the first NCAA Tournament berth in program history. Burton was selected to the All-Big Sky First Team, the Big Sky All-Tournament Team and won team Defensive MVP honors for the second straight year. Sacramento State broke 24 Big Sky program records en route to the NCAA Tournament.

Burton graduated in the spring of 2008 from Sacramento State with a degree in business and an emphasis in Accounting. She earned her master's degree in sport management from the University of San Francisco and completed her NSCAA national dipolma.
