Ezio Paolini was born on June 20, 1920 in Pieve a Nievole, Lucca, Italy. He attended Saint Peter’s Boys' High School, and USF in the class of 1942. He played soccer at USF from 1938 to 1942. After graduation, Paolini enlisted in the United States Army and commanded an anti-aircraft battery in Normandy and the European theater. Paolini earned the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. After the war, Paolini returned to the United States and obtained his Law Degree at the USF School of Law in 1948. Paolini practiced law for over 50 years and retired from the United States Army Reserve as a Colonel.

Paolini served as President of the California Soccer Association for two years and as President of the San Francisco Soccer League for 25 years. He was an active member of the Olympic Club for over 50 years, as well as a member of various Italian-American organizations, including Lucchesi nel Mondo, Order Sons of Italy (Virtus Lodge), Italian-American Social Club and the Verdi Club. He was inducted into the CSAN Hall of Fame in 1962, and the USF Hall of Fame in 1984.
