Jennifer Hartford was born on April 17, 1986 in Belmont, CA. She attended Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Orange County. She attended USF from 2004 to 2008, and was a member of the Women’s Cross-Country Team. She was a three-time All-WCC performer and is credited with laying the foundation for the program’s rise to national prominence. She was a First Team All-WCC selection in both 2006 and 2007, and came in fourth place at the 2007 WCC Championships with a USF record of 21:18. Her fourth-place finish was the highest in USF program history. She also won the 2006 Horner Jamboree, and helped USF to the team title. She qualified for the first NCAA Championship in the 5,000 meters in 2008, and was a two-time WCC All-Academic selection in 2004 and 2007. 

She was inducted into the USF Hall of Fame in 2015.
