Marvin Mosconi was born on October 14, 1917, in Denver, CO, and attended Kern County Union High School, in Bakersfield, CA, where he excelled as an all-round athlete. Mosconi attended USF from 1937 to 1941 and was known as the “Monk”. At 5’ 11”, 180 lbs., he played as the starting halfback for the Dons for three years. After college, he played professional football for two non-consecutive seasons in Los Angeles.
In 1943, he played as a for the Los Angeles Mustangs (PCPFL), and then served in the United States Army Air Corps. Following the war, he played as a quarterback in 1947, with the Los Angeles Bulldogs (PCPFL). After his football career, Mosconi returned to Bakersfield to coach and teach at Garces High School, where his record from 1948 to 1954 was 26-22-2. Mosconi later moved to Arvin High School as Head Coach. He has been inducted into the Bob Elias Kern County Hall of Fame in 1990, the USF Hall of Fame in 1980, and the Kern County Officials Association Hall of Fame.
