(San Francisco) - The University of San Francisco women's soccer team dropped a 5-1 decision to Brigham Young at Negoesco Stadium in San Francisco. The match was the first conference game between the two programs. BYU joined the West Coast Conference prior to the 2011-12 academic year.

With the loss, the Dons fall to 5-12-0 overall, 2-4-0 in conference play.

BYU got on the board early, as Collete Jepson put the Cougars are on the board 1-0 just 2:49 into the match. Jepson connected on short passes from Lindsi Lisonbee and Carlee Payne to knock it in right behind the USF goalkeeper.

The Dons knotted the score 1-1 late in the first half. At 42:52, Megan Connor took a cross from Keonna Robinson, on the left side, and headed it in past the Cougars' keeper.

With seconds remaining in the half, BYU capitalized on a USF foul, as Lisonbee nailed a free kick from quarter field straight into the net.

Following the half, it was all BYU. The Cougars scored twice within a two minute span thanks to another Jepson goal, and an unfortunate own goal by the Dons.

BYU capped scoring at 87:12, as Jennie Marshall took on the USF goalie one-on-one. Marshall drew the goalkeeper out of the net at the top of the box, knocking the ball all the way to the net.

The Cougars helped the strong offensive edge in the match, taking 14 shots to the Dons' six. Both teams earned two corner kicks.

San Francisco will return to the pitch Sunday as they host Saint Mary's at 3 p.m. The game will be the second of a doubleheader. The USF men's soccer team will host LMU at Noon.
