Wilson Scores Early, Dons Win 1-0

EUGENE, Ore. - Camille Wilson scored in the fourth minute of action, and that proved to be all the Dons (2-0-1) would need as the USF women's soccer team topped Oregon 1-0 on the road Friday evening at Pape Field.
Wilson wasted little time as she notched the unassisted score after firing away from the top of the box and banging it past Oregon keeper Halla Hinriksdottir. The goal was the second of Wilson's career and her first game winner.
The victory was USF's first win over a Pac-12 opponent since a 2-1 victory over Oregon State on Sept. 24, 2004.
Oregon (0-3-0) kept the pressure on the Dons' defense throughout the night, outshooting USF by a 13-7 margin. However, USF senior keeper Madalyn Schiffel proved to be a formidable force in goal, registering six saves on the night en route to her third consecutive shutout to start the year. Schiffel (2-0-1) added her program-best 17th career solo shutout in the process.
Hinriksdottir (0-2-0) recorded three saves of her own while taking the loss in goal for the Ducks.
The Dons look to keep the momentum going as they travel to Corvallis to take on Oregon State on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
