WSOC | Dons Back On the Road For Start of Three Game Road Trip

THE RUNDOWN
SAN FRANCISCO – After last weekend's contest with BYU was postponed due to the fires in the North Bay, the University of San Francisco women's soccer team resumes its schedule, when USF takes on Pacific and Saint Mary's this Friday and Sunday.
 
Two weeks ago, USF (5-8-2, 1-3-0 WCC) wrapped up a northwest road trip that saw the team go 1-1, including a double overtime win over Portland. On that trip, the Dons fell to host Gonzaga 6-2 before coming back to defeat the Pilots 2-1 in double overtime. 
 
The win over the Pilots was USF's first win in the history of the series.  As a team, the Dons averaging 13.0 shots per game, with a .497 shots on goal percentage.  USF's 195 total shots is tied for second most in the WCC.  Defensively, USF is allowing 16.8 shots per game, with a .528 shots on goal percentage.
 
Leading the team in points is senior forward Sonja Giraud with 15, her seven goals is currently 99th in the nation and fourth in the WCC.  Second on the team in goals is Samantha Jehnings who has five goals on the season, including the game winning goal against the Pilots on a free kick in double overtime last Sunday.
 
Defensively, USF is led by sophomore keeper Olivia Camera.  Camera is currently 17th in the nation in saves per game at 6.53, and ninth in the country in total saves with 98. 
 
Pacific enters Friday's contest with an overall record of 4-9-2, in the WCC UOP sits 1-3.  Last week, the Tigers went 0-2 falling to San Diego and BYU on the road.  As a team, Pacific has scored 15 goals on the year, which is tied with the Dons for sixth in the WCC.  Nine players have tallied at least one goal for the Tigers, leading the team in points is sophomore midfielder Sigrid Arias with eight points (three goals, two assists).  In goal, the Tigers have employed two keepers, leading the team in minutes and saves is freshman Henriikka Makela who has 46 saves in 765 minutes.
 
Saint Mary's boasts an overall record of 6-8-0, in conference play they are 2-2.  After winning three-straight, the Gaels went 0-2 last weekend, falling to USD 2-1 on Friday before being dealt a 4-1 defeat at the hands of BYU on Sunday.  SMC has scored 13 goals on the season, seven coming from senior Hannah Diaz.  Two keepers have split time on the field this season, with sophomore keeper Sarah Sawatzky leading the team in minutes (738) and saves (28).
