SAN FRANCISCO — The University of San Francisco women's soccer team shined under Friday Night Lights at Negoesco Stadium on Friday, as the Dons took down undefeated UC Santa Barbara, 2-0, with a strong first half and shutdown defense.
At the 23rd minute in the first, an assist from Cassidy Kaumeyer found Miciah Madison inside the box as she finessed a one-legged kick to score the Dons' first goal of the match - and her first of the season - making it 1-0. Only a couple of minutes later, San Francisco again found its way past the Gauchos' defense as Samantha Jehnings deked and dribbled past her defender at the top of the box, then shot long to the left side for her fifth goal of the year and a 2-0 Dons lead. Â
San Francisco controlled the tempo in the second half, letting the Gauchos attempt only one shot compared to the Dons' eight.Â
