The University of San Francisco women's soccer team begins its 35
th season on Saturday when the Dons travel to the Aloha State to participate in the Outrigger Soccer Kickoff hosted by Hawaii. USF will battle No. 5 USC on Saturday and wrap up the tournament taking on host Hawaii on Monday. Both games are slated for a 6:30 p.m. Pacific start times.

WHATS THE STORY
• Saturday's contest against USC marks the 35th season of USF women's Soccer History. All-time the Dons are 243-343-65 (.421). All-time, the Dons are 13-16-4 on season openers and are 2-0-0 when playing an opponent at a neutral site to begin the season.
• USF is coming off an 11-7-2 season including a 4-3-2 mark in the WCC. It marked just the fifth time in program history the Dons have won 11 or more games. Moreover, Millinder becomes just the second head coach in program history to guide the Dons to two 10-wins-or-better seasons.
• The Dons return an experienced roster including nine starters from last year's squad and 22 letter winners overall. Highlighting the list of returners for USF include all-conference honorees
Samantha Jehnings and
Miciah Madison.
• The Dons return 77% of their goals scored from last year, including their top four scorers, Jehnings (11), Madison (4),
Ashley Humphrey (4), and
Kalena Teufel (3).
• In the annual preseason coaches' poll, the Dons were picked to finish sixth with 43 points, BYU and Santa Clara were picked in a tie at first with 77 points each. Senior forward
Miciah Madison was picked to the WCC Preseason All-WCC Team, she is the first Don on the preseason list since 2016 when USF's
Jessica Nakae and
Ali Schaffer were named to the preseason team.
• Deep bench: USF had 28 players see action last season, 20 of those players tallied 500 or more minutes for the Dons in 2018. USF returns all but three of those players from last year's team that logged at least 500 minutes.
SATURDAY'S GAME
The Dons will officially kick off the 2019 season on Saturday when they take on No. 5 USC in Honolulu. Though this is the first ever meeting between the two programs, there is history between the Dons and Trojans. Head coach
Jim Millinder spent 11 years as the head coach of USF and helped turn them into a national powerhouse. The Trojans are coming off a 17-2-3 record which includes an 8-2-1 record in the Pac-12. USC fell to eventual National Champion in penalty kicks in the NCAA Tournament last season.

MONDAY'S CONTEST
On Monday, USF will wrap up their time in the Aloha State when they take on tournament host Hawaii. The Rainbow Wahine are coming off a 9-7-1 record in 2018 which includes a 4-4-0 mark in the Big West.
SERIES HISTORY
Monday will be the 13
th contest between the Dons and Rainbow Wahine. All-time the Dons are 7-2-3 against UH, including a 2-0-2 mark in Hawaii. The series dates back to Sep. 10, 1994 when the Dons defeated Hawaii 3-0 at Negoesco Stadium. The last time these two teams squared off was last year when USF defeated Hawaii 2-0 on Sep. 16, 2018.
