BROOKLINE, Mass. -- The University of San Francisco women's soccer team put pressure on host Northeastern in overtime, but ultimately couldn't find the back of the net. Unfortunately for the Dons (5-3) the host Huskies (3-4) came away with the game-winner in the 109^th minute, for a 2-1 victory in the second overtime.

"Very, very difficult game for us today. Northeastern is a very good team," said head coach Jim Millinder. "Our kids battled hard. We started off slow but we got a good goal from Samantha Jehnings. It was hot and humid, we had our chances to win at the end of regulation and in overtime, but that's how soccer goes. Credit to Northeastern, they are really tough. We'll go back to the drawing board and get ready for Montana next week."

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Huskies had the early advantage, taking four shots, with three on goal, in the first 11 minutes. But keeper Olivia Camera was up to the task, saving all three attempts. The Northeastern defense did its job, holding the Dons to just one shot by Miciah Madison through the first 30 minutes of the half. NE held a 10-2 shot advantage to that point.

• Out of the break, the Dons turned the tide. USF was able to maintain possession and tallied five shots early. Samantha Jehnings broke the scoreless tie with a header on the feed from Mariah Diaz. It came in the 59^th minute.

• In the 71^st minute, the Huskies tied it up when Camera punched in a corner into the Dons' goal. The own-goal knotted the score up at one apiece.

• The overtime seemingly belonged to the Dons, who outshot the Huskies 4-1 over two overtime periods. Ultimately, it was the one Huskies' shot in the second overtime that proved to be the difference, as Northeastern got the golden goal in the 109^th minute, thanks to Kerri Zerfoss.

NOTABLE NUMBERS
0-1: Overtime has been kind to the Dons recently. USF's last overtime loss came at the hands of Santa Clara on Nov. 5, 2017. That match also ended in a 2-1 defeat.
22: This is the second time this season the Dons have allowed 20 or more shots by their opponent. The last time came against No. 3 Stanford last week.
30: The goal by Samantha Jehnings was the 30^th of her career. She becomes just the third player in USF history to score 30 or more goals in her career.

NEXT UP:
The Dons will return home and host Montana on Friday, Sep. 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Negoesco Stadium. It is the start of a three-game homestand to close out non-conference play.
