SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco women's golf team finished the opening day of the Bruin Wave Invitational Monday in ninth with a 46-over 619 at the par-72 San Luis Obispo Country Club.
Playing in the one of the strongest fields the Dons have competed in this season, USF responded with a better second round to finish one stroke ahead of conference rival Pepperdine.
"The team fought hard today through some windy conditions on a tough golf course," said USF head coach Sara Doell. "The team identified a few key areas that we can improve upon tomorrow. We look forward to a strong finish."
USF had two players in the top-25 and were led by Annika Borrelli, who finished tied for 15th with a 6-over 150 (73-77). Birdies were hard to come by on Monday with only one player in the tournament finishing with more than 10 on the day.
