LAST TIME OUT:
  • The Dons opened the 2021 campaign with a hard fought 2-2 draw against visiting Oregon on Sunday. USF got a brace from second-year freshman defender Kenna Roth who scored on a PK in the opening half and a beautiful one touch volley in early in the second half.
  • Oregon opened the contest with a goal early and struck late to get level in the 69th minute. In the second half and overtime, USF's defense did a tremendous job keeping the Ducks from adding another goal. USF's defense, faced 16 shots after the intermission, five in the first and second overtime.

DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • Following the 2-2 against the Ducks, USF moves to 52-7-6 in the Jim Millinder era when scoring two or more goals in a contest. Last season, USF went 2-1-0 in matches in which they scored two or more times.
  • In the Millinder era, the Dons are now 5-2-3 in season openers following the 2-2 tie with the Ducks. In the previous nine seasons under Millinder, the Dons have gone 6-1-2 in their second game of the season. The one loss coming at the hands of Texas Tech in 2017 in Albuquerque.
  • Redshirt junior keeper Molly Eby finished Sunday's contest with six saves, the six saves gives her 103 for her career.
  • With her two goals scored, Kenna Roth becomes the first Don to score two goals in a game since Marissa Vasquez did it against LMU in Los Angeles on April 10th last season. Roth also joins Vasquez as the last player to score a brace with her first two collegiate goals. Prior to the two goals scored by Roth, the last player to score two or more on the opening day of the season was Samantha Jehnings who scored a pair in a 2-0 win over Drake on Aug. 17, 2018.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
  • SJSU enters Thursday's match with an 0-0-1 record after falling to No. 2 Santa Clara 3-0 at Santa Clara. In that contest, Spartan's freshman keepers Autumn Monty Shayla Sugai tallied 10 saves against the Broncos.
