PROVO, Utah -- Returning back to the road for the first of two WCC matches this week, the USF Dons women's soccer team (5-4-3, 0-2) couldn't get much going as they fell on the road to the BYU Cougars (5-2-4, 1-0-1) by a 6-0 score up in the Utah Valley on Wednesday night.
Dons sophomore goalkeeper
Kira Ybarra and freshman midfielder
Cade Mendoza each made their first career starts on Wednesday night for USF.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- The early portions of the match was a defensive struggle with both sides feeling the other side out with BYU breaking through for the first goal of the match at the 30 minute mark of play.
- BYU added another goal five minutes later as they took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
- The Cougars weren't done yet as they scored four times in the second half to extend their lead to 6-0 which ended up being the final score from South Field on Wednesday night.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Ybarra recorded nine saves in her first collegiate start on Wednesday against BYU.
- Mendoza attempted one shot against the Cougars in her first time in the USF starting lineup.
- On the offensive side of the ball, Alex Carpio and Allison Kamansky each recorded shots on goal for the Dons.
