Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. -- Finishing up their first road conference series of the 2022 season, the USF Dons baseball team (14-12, 3-3) couldn't getting going against the Portland Pilots on Sunday as they fell 8-2 at Joe Etzel Field.
Gabe Giosso got USF off to a fast start by lining a double to right center field that scored
Luke Keaschall who was off on the pitch to give the Dons the early lead. Tacking on their second run later in the game
Harris Williams III drove a double that scored
Mario DeMera for the team's second and final run of the game.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- USF got off to their quick start on Giosso's RBI double as they scored the first run of the game for the second time this series, with Giosso delivering the hit both times.
- The Pilots answered an inning later by putting up a four spot in the bottom of the second to take control of the game with a 4-1 lead early on.
- Portland would go on to score twice in the fourth, once in the fifth and again in the seventh as they built a 8-1 lead through seven innings of play.
- Getting the offense back on track, Williams III found the right center gap that brought in DeMera to make it an 8-2 game which would go on to be the final score from Portland.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Keaschall kept up his hot hitting ways with a 2-for-4 game as he collected a pair of singles and scored the first USF run of the game.
- DeMera had a tremendous weekend in the Pacific Northwest and continued that trend on Sunday afternoon as he reached base three times with a 2-for-3 day at the dish.
- Williams III and Giosso both went 1-for-4 in the series finale with the Pilots with RBI doubles to drive in the two USF runs.
- Relief pitcher Julian Washburn had a great outing out of the bullpen throwing 1 2/3 perfect innings and not allowing a base runner.Â

The Dons now continue their road trip with a trip south to Eugene for the first of two games this week against the Oregon Ducks (15-7, 6-2) on Tuesday and Wednesday. First pitch for Tuesday's game will be at 4:00 p.m. with live streaming and live statistics available via theÂ
