DONS AT A GLANCE:
- USF's lone game last week was a hard fought draw with the California Golden Bears with each side scoring once during the 90 minutes of play as the Dons picked up their second tie of the young season.
- Freshman midfielder Alex Carpio came through in the clutch as she was able to score her first career collegiate goal in the second half of Thursday's match. The Bay Area native has made a huge impact in her short time at USF as she's accumulated three points with a goal and an assist five games in to the season.
- Junior goalkeeper Megan Nail has done a great job of solidifying herself in goal for the Dons as she's played the entirety of the Dons' first five matches and recording a pair of shutouts to go along with just one loss this season.
- Dons junior defender Jamesen Ward came up big in last season's draw in Waco assisting on USF's lone goal in the draw against the Bears.
SCOUTING THE BEARS:
- Baylor is making a return trip to take on the Dons after last season's game ended in a 1-1 tie that was called in the 71st minute due to a heat advisory.
- The Bears this season are led by first year head coach Michelle Lenard who joined Baylor after coaching over 14 years at Dallas Baptist where she accumulated 201 wins in her tenure.
- Junior forward Mackenzie Anthony made the key play in last season's match against USF by scoring the game tying goal in the 48th minute to help her team secure the tie at home.
SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS:
- The Mustangs arrive on the Hilltop undefeated through their first five matches of the season including accumulating two ties against #11 Tennessee and Oklahoma.
- USF will have their hands full with graduate student midfielder Courtney Sebazco who has twice won the AAC Offesnive Player of the Week award through the first three weeks of the season.
- SMU has been an impressive program throughout the early season as they've achieved a #16 overall ranking this season as well as being ranked in 14 consecutive polls.
