CORVALLIS, Ore. - Suiting up against the Beavers for the first time in West Coast Conference play, the University of San Francisco women's soccer team (4-6-2, 0-2-2 WCC) could not find their footing in Corvallis as the Dons fell at Oregon State (5-6-1, 3-0-1 WCC) 2-0, on Wednesday evening.
Â
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Setting the tone early, Lindsey Chau fired the first shot of the match for either team at 3:46, but the junior missed wide left on her opening attempt.
- As the first half played on, Konstantina Konidaris, Jackie Koerwitz and Chau would each record shots for San Francisco, which included Koerwitz's shot on frame at 26:28.
- Using the full 45 minutes to their advantage, Oregon State scored with 16 seconds remaining in the first half as Valerie Tobias found the back of the net at 44:44 for the game's first goal. At the halftime break, the Beavers held a 1-0 advantage.
- Coming out of the locker room, Alex Carpio recorded a shot on frame at 48:54, but was ultimately denied by Oregon State goalkeeper Mya Sanchez.
- Just under ten minutes later, OSU doubled their lead to 2-0 when Tobias found McKenna Martinez for the Beavers' second goal of the evening.
- Throughout the rest of the contest, Gabby Rizzo, Ellie Weissenberg, Danica Lunceford and Chau each attempted to fire back, but none were successful in trimming the deficit. Hanging on to defend their home pitch, Oregon State went on to take down San Francisco by a final score of 2-0.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Offensively, Chau has continued to find her rhythm as she recorded 3+ shots for the fifth time this fall, including the third time in the last six matches.
- Providing energy off the bench, Rizzo played a season-high 47 minutes as she logged one shot on the evening.
- In the cage, Ybarra finished with her second-most saves in a single game this season as the goalkeeper logged five saves against the Beavers.Â
