San Francisco Set to Host Stanislaus State in Midweek Matchup

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Back in action on the Hilltop, the University of San Francisco men's basketball team (7-2) will continue their nonconference slate this week as the Dons are set to host Stanislaus State (4-5, 1-2 CCAA) at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center on Wednesday night.

DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • Last week, San Francisco picked up another significant victory to remain perfect at home on the Hilltop as the Dons defeated Saint Louis, 78-61, on Thursday, Dec. 5. Pouring in a game-high 22 points, Malik Thomas was tabbed Player of the Game as he finished 9-of-14 from the field, 3-of-4 from distance and 1-of-2 from the free throw line to go along with a season-high six rebounds and one steal in 31 minutes.
  • Climbing into the upper half of the top 100, San Francisco currently sits at No. 50 in the latest edition of the NCAA's NET rankings.
  • Statistically, San Francisco is in the top 50 in Division I in scoring defense (62.7, 22nd), effective field goal percentage (56.7 percent, 34th), field goal percentage (49.2, 34th) and scoring margin (15.7, 38th).
  • Continuing to dominate individually, Thomas is currently second in the West Coast Conference (WCC) in points per game (17.8), free throws made (47) and free throw attempts (59) as of Tuesday afternoon.
  • This season, San Francisco is 5-0 when shooting 50 percent or better, 5-0 when finishing with a positive turnover margin, 6-0 when scoring at least 80 points and 7-0 when outshooting their opponent.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS:
  • In their last time out, Stanislaus State fell on the road at Cal State Dominguez Hills, 67-56, on Saturday, Dec. 7. Despite the loss, Jeremiah Jones finished with a game-high 20 points on 7-of-13 from the field, 2-of-4 from distance and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe to go along with eight rebounds and three assists in a game-high 39 minutes.
  • Leading the way offensively, Jones paces the Warriors with an average of 18.9 points per game as the guard has scored in double digits in all nine games this season.
  • As a team, Stanislaus State is seventh nationally in Division II with 9.6 turnovers per game. Additionally, the Warriors' +4.4 turnover margin which is 30th in the nation. Individually, Jones ranks 22nd in the country with 70 made field goals.
  • Playing away from home for a few weeks, Wednesday's showdown at San Francisco will mark the third of five straight road games for the Warriors.
  • After squaring off against Saint Mary's earlier this season, San Francisco will be the second of three Division I opponents for Stanislaus State this year as the Warriors will battle Sacramento State in twelve days on Dec. 22 in Sacramento.
SERIES HISTORY:
  • Since 2006, San Francisco is 1-0 against Stanislaus State as the Dons defeated the Warriors 95-88 at home on the Hilltop on Nov. 6, 2006.
