DONS AT A GLANCE:
- San Francisco closed out its four-game road swing at Saint Mary's last weekend, battling the Gaels in a three-game set at Louis Guisto Field.
- Myles Kallinger and Michael Campagna led the Dons at the plate, totaling four hits apiece throughout the series against the Gaels. Kallinger batted .364 (four-for-11), while Campagna posted a .333 batting average (four-for-12) and combined for three runs scored.
- Kallinger, batting .409 in 14 games this season, extended his hitting streak to six games after picking up a single in the series finale at Saint Mary's on Sunday, Apr. 21. In the last six games, Kallinger is hitting .444 (eight-for-18) and has totaled two multi-hit performances, going two-for-three at California on Tuesday, Apr. 16 and at Saint Mary's on Saturday, Apr. 20.
- Joe Soberon and Lance Santerre pitched well this past weekend, allowing a combined six runs in 11.2 innings. Santerre, earning the start against the Gaels on Saturday, fanned seven batters in six innings, while Soberon followed with a five-strikeout performance in 5.2 innings on Sunday.
- In 36 games this season, TJ Rogers leads the Dons with a .316 batting average, recording 37 hits in 117 at-bats. Posting four multi-hit games in his last eight contests, Rogers is batting .379 (11-for-29) with two doubles, a home run, and eight RBI.
- Kody Watanabe continues to rank first on the team in multiple statistical categories, including at-bats (131), hits (40), doubles (11), RBI (26), hit by pitch (20), and on-base percentage (.465).
- On the mound, Santerre and Soberon lead the way as the green and gold's best overall pitchers. In 10 appearances and nine starts, Santerre has recorded a team-best 3.40 earned-run average, while Soberon ranks second at 3.70. The duo ranks sixth and eighth in the WCC in earned-run average, respectively, allowing a combined 41 earned runs and 81 strikeouts in 103.2 innings.
SCOUTING THE DUCKS:
- Nationally ranked Oregon enters Monday's contest ranked 18th in the nation according to Baseball America and is coming off a series loss at Stanford this past weekend.
- In the series finale against the Cardinal, the Ducks dropped the rubber match, falling 10-7 on Sunday, Apr. 21, despite recording four home runs.
- Jacob Walsh, Oregon's best overall hitter, leads the team with a .322 batting average. In the last four games, Walsh has totaled 12 hits, including eight-for-12 at the plate in the series against Stanford. Leading the team and ranking second in the Pac-12 in home runs with 16, Walsh also ranks first on the team in hits (46), runs scored (32), RBI (45), and slugging percentage (.736).
SCOUTING THE TIGERS:
- Coming off a series loss at home to LMU last weekend, Pacific looks to get back on track when it hosts California on Tuesday, Apr. 23, before traveling to the Bay for its three-game series against San Francisco.
- Pacific enters the week in eighth place in the WCC standings, one spot ahead of San Francisco, with a 2-10 conference record.
- The Tigers struggled against the Lions at Klein Family Field, allowing 37 runs over the three-game series.
- Splitting the first two games, the two teams combined for 24 runs in the rubber match on Sunday, Apr. 21, with the Lions coming out victorious, 13-11.
- Jack Metcho leads the team offensively, batting .255 with a team-leading 37 hits in 145 at-bats. An inconsistent hitter as of late, Metcho has totaled just two hits in his last 16 at-bats but has recorded nine multi-hit performances this season, including going three-for-three against North Dakota State on Sunday, Feb. 25.
- As a team, Pacific ranks ninth in the WCC in both batting average (.214) and earned-run average (8.92). The Tigers also rank last among the nine-team league in total hits (275), RBI (149), on-base percentage (.322), and strikeouts (211).
SERIES HISTORY:
- Oregon holds an 11-4 advantage over San Francisco since the 2011 season, winning three of the four meetings on the Hilltop. The last time the Dons defeated the Ducks was on Monday, Mar. 26, 2018 in a 5-1 victory in Eugene.
- San Francisco has defeated Pacific in 25 of the last 42 meetings, including winning the final two games to take the series in Stockton during the 2023 season.
