Men's Soccer Wraps Up Nonconference Play Against San José State

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The University of San Francisco men's soccer team (0-5-2) returns home to Negoesco Stadium to close out non-conference play after five games on the road as they host San Jose State (1-3-3) on Monday, Sept. 23 at 7:00 p.m.

DONS AT A GLANCE:
- In their last outing, San Francisco fell 2-1 to UC Davis on the road as the Aggies topped the Dons on a late goal in the final minute of the contest. Despite the loss, Brayden Beason netted his second goal of the campaign for the green and gold.
- Heading into Monday, Gabriel Bracken Serra leads the team in overall points with five as logged his first assist of the season on Beason's goal against Davis.
- Olivier Sylvain has recorded at least one shot in the last seven games as the junior is up to 11 shots on the season. The midfielder has also recorded the second-most minutes (624) on the pitch this year, which includes playing the full 90 minutes six times.
- Last week, San Jose Staté faced two WCC opponents as the Spartans first fell to Santa Clara, 2-1, on Sept. 15 before finishing a scoreless draw against Saint Mary's on Sept. 20. Against the Gaels, SJSU outshooting their opponents, 18-4.
- Offensively, Gilberto Rivera (one goal and two assists) and Diogo Baptista (two goals and one assist) lead the team with four points each on the year.
- In goal, Edgar Guerra has tallied 23 saves, including two shutouts, to go along with with a goal against average of 0.86 across seven matches.
- Since 2005, San Francisco leads the all-time series between the two programs with a record of 9-2-2 against San José State. In their last meeting on Aug. 31, 2023, the Dons and Spartans tied 1-1 in San Jose. Notably, the two teams tied 1-1 in their last meeting on the Hilltop on Sept. 1, 2022.
